Thursday is World Sight Day, a good nudge to look after your eyes, especially if you spend much of the day at a screen. When did you last have an eye test? If you use a screen regularly for work, you may be entitled to an eye test through us, and the details are here: [link to eye care policy]. Try the 20-20-20 habit today: every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet away for 20 seconds.

Slack / Teams post

For the company channel on the day.

It's World Sight Day, so here's your reminder to look away from the screen for a moment. If you're due an eye test, check our eye care policy for what's covered.

Talking points

For managers and team leads.

- Encourage regular screen breaks and make it clear that stepping away is fine. - Remind the team how to request an eye test or a workstation assessment. - Check that anyone who has mentioned eye strain or headaches has had their set-up reviewed.

Tone note

How to pitch it.

Keep it practical and light. Some colleagues may have sight loss or a visual impairment, so avoid jokes about eyesight and make sure anything you share is accessible.

How to feature this in your newsletter

  1. Plan ahead — Add World Sight Day to your content calendar at least 2 weeks before the date so you have time to gather content and images.
  2. Choose your angle — Will you run a dedicated special edition, or include it as a section in your regular newsletter? Bigger events work well as specials; smaller ones fit into your weekly digest.
  3. Involve your people — Ask employees to share their stories, experiences, or ideas related to World Sight Day. User-generated content always gets higher engagement.
  4. Include a call to action — Give readers something to do: attend an event, share a message, learn something new, or donate to a cause.
