29 April is International Dance Day, a celebration of dance in all its forms. Whether you are a trained dancer, a kitchen-disco regular or someone who prefers to watch, it is a good excuse to move a little more. Why not share a favourite song to dance to in [link to channel] and we will build a team playlist? If anyone takes classes or performs, we would love to hear about it too.

Slack / Teams post

For the company channel on the day.

It is International Dance Day. Share the one song that always gets you moving and we will turn the suggestions into a team playlist.

Talking points

For managers and team leads.

- Keep any activity fun, short and entirely optional. - Invite people to share hobbies and talents outside work. - Use the team playlist as a light icebreaker in a meeting.

Tone note

How to pitch it.

Keep it playful and optional, since not everyone is comfortable dancing or able to join in physically. Celebrate the many cultural traditions of dance rather than one style.

How to feature this in your newsletter

  1. Plan ahead — Add International Dance Day to your content calendar at least 2 weeks before the date so you have time to gather content and images.
  2. Choose your angle — Will you run a dedicated special edition, or include it as a section in your regular newsletter? Bigger events work well as specials; smaller ones fit into your weekly digest.
  3. Involve your people — Ask employees to share their stories, experiences, or ideas related to International Dance Day. User-generated content always gets higher engagement.
  4. Include a call to action — Give readers something to do: attend an event, share a message, learn something new, or donate to a cause.
