Sikh colleagues are celebrating Guru Nanak Gurpurab, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru. Many will visit the gurdwara for prayers and hymns, and share langar, the free community kitchen that welcomes everyone regardless of background. To everyone celebrating, we wish you a happy Gurpurab. If you would like to share how you mark the day, we would love to hear from you: [contact]. If you need time off, please speak to your manager.

Slack / Teams post

For the company channel on the day.

Wishing a happy Gurpurab to all our Sikh colleagues celebrating the birth of Guru Nanak.

Talking points

For managers and team leads.

- Be flexible with leave and working hours around the day. - Avoid scheduling important meetings or events on the day where possible. - Invite, rather than expect, Sikh colleagues to share their traditions.

Tone note

How to pitch it.

Invite rather than presume, and do not ask colleagues to explain or represent their faith. The date follows the lunar calendar, so confirm with colleagues which day they are marking.
