21 May is the UN World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. Our colleagues bring a wide range of cultures, languages and traditions to work, and that makes us better at what we do. To mark the day, we are inviting anyone who would like to share a favourite dish, phrase, tradition or recommendation from their culture to send it to [contact]. We will share a selection in the next issue. Taking part is entirely optional.

Slack / Teams post

For the company channel on the day.

It's World Day for Cultural Diversity. We'd love to hear a favourite tradition, dish or phrase from your culture, if you'd like to share one.

Talking points

For managers and team leads.

- The UN day celebrates cultural diversity and the value of dialogue between cultures. - Invite people to share if they wish, and make it clear that taking part is optional. - Think about whether meeting times, holidays and social events work for people from different backgrounds.

Tone note

How to pitch it.

Invite rather than presume, and avoid putting individual colleagues forward as representatives of a culture. Keep the tone curious and celebratory rather than tokenistic.
