11 October is National Coming Out Day. Coming out is a personal decision, and many LGBTQ+ people do it again and again throughout their lives, including at work. Nobody should ever feel pressured to come out, and nobody should feel they have to hide. Here, you can share as much or as little of yourself as you choose. If you would like to connect with others, our [LGBTQ+ network] is open to members and allies.

Slack / Teams post

For the company channel on the day.

It's National Coming Out Day on 11 October. Whether you're out, not out, or somewhere in between, you're welcome here, and it's always your choice what you share.

Talking points

For managers and team leads.

- Never out anyone or speculate about a colleague's sexual orientation or gender identity. - Use inclusive language and avoid assumptions about partners or families. - Point people to our LGBTQ+ network and support, for members and allies alike.

Tone note

How to pitch it.

Coming out is personal and never something to pressure, prompt or celebrate on someone else's behalf. Only feature personal stories from colleagues who have chosen to share them.
